I’m working on a English question and need guidance to help me study.

DIRECTIONS:

We are now working through the concepts and readings for our unit on education borders–the barriers that gatekeep us out of a successful education or make it difficult to thrive in the classroom and in academia. Continuing to add to what we have already read so far, I want us to consider the race and class and how that impacts education, particularly with this essay by bell hooks. In this narrative, bell hooks describes her life as a young, Black woman. She illustrates two different college settings, and she relates them around a central ideas of race and class.

Carefully read through “Learning in the Shadow of Race and Class” by bell hooks. Read it slowly! Read it twice! You can ignore the questions at the bottom of the scanned document for this assignment.
