Most citizen’s view of corrections is of some correction officers in the local jail or of those in the courthouse transporting inmates, few have actually seen the inside of a prison, much less the interactions between prison guards and inmates. I want you guys to review the different ethical systems before exploring this week’s material since it will correlate to one another. After reviewing the ethical systems, you will watch the prison movie “Shawshank Redemption” starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman (I have attached the movie for your convenience). This is a long movie (2 hours and 22 minutes) so do not wait until Sunday at 11 pm to try and get it done you will not score well. This week’s activity is dealing with discretion and dilemmas in corrections. You will complete the following: You will watch the movie, “Shawshank Redemption.” You will identify ethical dilemmas inside the prison. Discuss at least three correctional dilemmas from the movies and identify the ethical system that it either violates or contradicts. Explain why there is a difference between prison dilemmas and local jail dilemmas. Each section will be worth five (5) points and will be graded based on how the question is answered. I am looking for complete and thorough responses, in other words, a one sentence response might get 0 – 1 point, and so forth. I am looking for critical thinking and analyses.
