COMM301 CSU LB 5 Minute Special Occasion Speech and Outline I need a 5 minute special occasion speech and outline for my public speaking communications class. I will attach more pictures of what is required, once connected. The pictures attached and that are going to be attached are all the information required and needed. Speech Topic Selection
The topic selection for your Special Occasion speech will be based on, you’ve guessed, a special occasion. You get to pick what the special occasion will be. To
this end, you get to come up with a scenario. Be witty and creative!
The topic selection and speech preparation includes three steps:
1. Pick a type of special occasion speech from the list provided below.
2. Write a scenario that “sets up” the special occasion, i.e., defines the rhetorical event.
3. Create and outline and speech that is effective and appropriate for the special occasion
STEP 1: CHOOSE A SPECIAL OCCASION SPEECH TYPE A
Please choose one special occasion speech type from the list below.

STEP 2: CREATE A SCENARIO
Create a scenario that describes the rhetorical event. The scenario should be a short paragraph, about 300 words long that answers the following questions:
What speech type did you choose?
Who are you in this scenario?
If the speech is about someone else, who is the person you are honoring, introducing, roasting, presenting an award to, etc.?
. What is the setting?
Who is the audience.
What is the context of the speech? What is some background information that is important to know?
Example how to create a scenario:
To determine the rhetorical event you need to share information that answer the following questions:
What speech type did you choose? – Acceptance Speech
Who are you in this scenario? – A struggling actor who no one believed in
If the speech is about someone else, who is the person you are honoring, introducing, roasting, presenting an award to, etc.? – Not applicable for an
acceptance speech
What is the setting? – The Oscars, i.e., Academy Awards
Who is the audience? – Hollywood celebrities are in attendance and millions of people watching the live from home.
What is the context of the speech? What is some background information that is important to know? – / won the Oscar for best actor against all
odds. I starred in Steven Spielberg’s new movie which was the biggest hit of the summer making me a global star over night. Prior to being
in the film, many people on social media made fun of me and critics did not believe in me. Some even said I should quit. Now, I won the
Oscar against all odds.
After you have decided on the information printed in bold above, write a paragraph that sets up your scenario/describes the context/background in which
your special occasion speech takes place. Your scenario should be about 250 words long.
STEP 3: Create a Outline and Speech
Now that you have set up the rhetorical event it is time to create your speech. Write an outline for a speech that is appropriate for the event that you have
created. Your speech must contain the following structural elements:
1. Introduction that is clearly based on an attention gaining device
2. Thesis Statement
3. Preview with signposting
4. Main Point!
5. Two subpoints that support main point I by providing greater detail or examples
6. Transition
7. Main Point Il

9. Review
10. Conclusion
Please see the next page for detailed information on how to create the outline and speech.
