Part 2: WBS / Project Status
For Part 2, we will continue to work on your project and take the deliverables that you identified in Part 1 and build
them into a work breakdown structure (WBS) using MS Project and a project management tool. In addition, we will add
team members to a project, assign them to tasks, and generate a project report.
The project management tool we will use for this course is Daptiv, by Changepoint. Daptiv is a project portfolio
management tool used by companies throughout the world (such as Crayola, PNC Bank, Honeywell, Dell EMC,
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Benco Dental, and more). The tool allows project managers to track all aspects related
to their project, including tasks, resources, issues, risks, budgets, and more. Ensure to follow the below steps closely and
watch the videos to help you navigate through the Daptiv tool. Note, you can use any browser or computer as long as
you have internet access to complete the assignments. Your instructor will provide you an e-mail with a unique login and
password per group that you will use to log into Daptiv.
For this Part:
1. Log into Daptiv: https://login.daptiv.com/
a. Use the login and password provided to you from your instructor.
2. Create a workspace (project) for your project.
a. Steps for creating a new workspace:
i. From the projects menu, choose new workspace
ii. Name the project as applicable based on your project choice (Example: New Billing Software

a. Click here for a video on how to do this.
b. Steps for adding duration and team members:
i. Click on the work package that you want to update

Part 3: Controlling the Project
Project risks are evident in every project. A project manager is tasked with identifying risks along with determine
mitigation strategies to reduce the likelihood of the risk to occur (or if the risk is a positive one, increase the likelihood
for it to occur). This portion of the assignment will build off some of the risks you identified in your initial project plan
from Part 1 as well as work to estimate the cost for the project.
1. Log back into Daptiv and click into your existing project.
2. Add in Project Risks and mitigation information.
a. Steps for adding a risk
a. Go to ‘Risk’ on the left menu
b. Click ‘Add’ on the top
c. Populate the following fields:
a. Risk Name – a brief name of the risk
b. Risk Description – a short description of the risk
c. Category – what type or risk is it
d. Status – just set to ‘Identified’
e. Likelihood – on a scale of 0-5 (reference the drop-down), what is the likelihood that this
risk will occur.
f. Consequence – on a scale of 0-5 (reference the drop-down), what is the overall
consequence to the project if this risk occurs
g. $ Impact if Risk Occurs – using a dollar value, what would be the financial impact if the
risk occurred
h. Trigger Event – what to watch for to know if this risk is starting to occur
i. Mitigation Plan – what are some steps you can do to help reduce the likelihood of the
risk from occurring
d. Click Save and add in an additional three risks (for a total of four)
b. Notice when looking at the data the system automatically populates a risk magnitude score (likelihood x
consequence) and an exposure score (likelihood x $ impact)
3. Go back to your tasks, add another deliverable to your project called “Risk Planning” and include two work
packages: “Schedule Risk Planning Session” (1 hr) and “Complete Risk Planning Session” (2 hrs)
a. This deliverable should be located toward the beginning of your project.

d. Add in Expense
a. See steps from the prior Unit
e. Change Risk
a. See steps from the prior Unit
b. Update your first risk to have a status of ‘Risk Solved’
7. Update slides as applicable in the Presentation.
a. Note you can re-run the Project Status report to snip data for your risks/etc.
Part 4: Project Close
Once a project is completed, the project team should complete a final project report, which is the administrative record
of the completed project, which identifies all its functional and technical components as well as other important project
history. It includes all the strengths and weaknesses of the project as it progressed and offers a final assessment of what
went right (or wrong) throughout the life of the project. It is essentially a “lessons learned” document of the project.
1. You will complete slides on the presentation; and completing filling in lessons learned in Daptiv.

learned/etc.)
On Sunday you will present your project slides to your peers.
