For the first write-up assignment, you will watch the first episode of the documentary series “The Adventure of

English”, and the first episode is titled “Birth of a Language”

The first episode explores the journey of English language, from birth to the end of Old English period! Your task is to write a summary that includes:

• Discussion of the foundations of the English language.

• Discussion of the major historical events that impacted the

English language from it’s conception till the end of Old

English period.

• Discussion of other languages that influenced English from it’s conception till the end of Old English period.

Word limit: Minimum 500 words, maximum 1000 words
