The literature refers to the published books and articles that contain contributions to an ongoing conversation among scholars. A conversation might be about the nature of liberty; it might be about the figure of the highwayman in Locke’s Second Treatise.

A literature review is an analysis of the ongoing conversation on a topic, question, or issue. A strong literature review organizes existing contributions to a conversation into categories or “threads.” For each category or thread, a literature review might highlight particularly interesting books or articles, then briefly cite or mention other instances. It is possible to have a category populated by just one book or article. A literature review typically serves to identify an opportunity or opportunities for new research on a topic.

A literature review is NOT a summary of everything said on a topic; nor is it a chronological account of publications on a topic.

A literature review answers questions such as these:

What is the current state of the literature/research on your topic?
What are the major contributions to the study of your topic? What do they say?
What are the “threads,” themes, or categories in the conversation about your topic? Do you find any of these particularly valuable? Why?
Are there any major disagreements or debates on this topic? Any areas of consensus?
Do you see anything missing or otherwise problematic in the literature? The Literature Review

Finished Product Due: July 19, 2020
Due to the final exam schedule, there will be NO EXTENSIONS for the finished product!

Approximate Length of Paper: 5-7 pages
Sources: Three must be scholarly, aim for a total of five or more sources
Formatting: MLA or APA (unless otherwise discussed)
For the Literature Review, you will select an issue or controversial topic in your discipline or
future career, and you will examine this issue from two perspectives: your position on this topic
and the counterargument (What do others say about this topic?). Try to select a topic that you
may be unfamiliar with, so that you learn about your topic. What I don’t want you to do is to
select a topic you have already decided your position for, and then regurgitate all the research
available that supports your position. This is not a research argument, rather an exploration of
the current conversation taking place on a specific topic within your discipline.
Extensive research from at least three scholarly sources will support your argument. You will
likely have at least two additional credible sources, but you may have as many additional
sources as you wish.
It will also be necessary for you to state your own opinions on the topic, though do not write in
first person. Your research paper should be written in the third person perspective.
The purpose of this Literature Review is to help you practice the conventions of academic
writing in your discipline and meet the expectations of scholarly discourse in your field. This
project will be broken up into several parts: annotated bibliography, rough draft, peer review and
finished product.
Connected to the background and significance of your study is a more deliberate review
and synthesis of prior studies related to the research problem under investigation. The
purpose here is to place your project within the larger whole of what is currently being explored,
while demonstrating to your readers that your work is original and innovative. Think about what
questions other researchers have asked, what methods they have used, and what is your
understanding of their findings. Assess what you believe is still missing, and state how previous
research has failed to examine the issue that your study addresses.
The Annotated Bibliography – You will submit an annotated bibliography, which will help in
the completion of your final project. The annotated bibliography requires you to assemble a list of
at least three scholarly sources that you may potentially use in the final research essay. For each
annotation, you will summarize the source information, evaluate its overall credibility, and
state how it will help support your persuasive thesis. Your completed document should apply
either APA or MLA standards.

This paper defines financial coaching by analyzing data and information related to the
topic. More importantly, the article looks into various financial coaching programs. The authors
go ahead to describe the benefits of integrating with a financial coach. Although financial
coaching is a common name among many people, I do believe it is unregulated and has a deficit
when it comes to its meaning. Financial coaching assists clients to establish goals and act on
those goals. The main aim of this article is to outline the primary components of coaching. Also,
according to the authors, the field of financial coaching needs more research and people should
pay more attention to this field. Also, the authors state that coaching is not prescriptive and
coaches do not provide their clients with essential advice. The article goes ahead to provide a
difference between monetary coaching, financial counseling, and financial education. In my
opinion, as per the article, the financial coach’s role is to establish goals and implement financial
plans for their clients. Also, it is the responsibility of a financial coach to ensure their clients
follow the necessary steps to accomplish their goals. The article concludes by stating that even if
financial coaching is beneficial, it is not well defined.

This article begins by defining and outlining the difference between monetary capability,
monetary planning, and financial coaching. Even if the article uses these terms interchangeably,
these terms have different implications in practice. According to the authors, financial education
and financial capability are related in one way or the other when it comes to financial
knowledge. Financial education focuses on understanding financial concepts while financial
capability focuses on internal factors and external factors. Internal factors may include money
while external factors may include access to financial institutions. All these factors contribute to
a successful financial practice. Even if these concepts may overlap in meaning, the differences
are also essential, especially for consumers. Delgadillo argues that financial counseling can be
productive as well as preventive. However, as a result of financial limitations, most people
categorize financial counseling as reactive or remedial. Also, the paper focuses on financial
therapy. However, the author argues that the burgeoning field requires more research for
financial consultants to make a valid connection. After analyzing the article, I can conclude that
financial coaching is much different from financial planning and coaching. Therefore, it is upon
investors to decide which way to focus on when it comes to financial issues.

Retirement provisions to determine the connection between an individual’s financial satisfaction
and financial ratios. According to the study, individuals below the age of 65 have the lowest
levels of financial satisfaction. Also, as per the article, racial differences play a big part when it
comes to financial satisfaction. Black people have lesser financial satisfaction in comparison to
whites. In my opinion, I do not believe in this statement because financial status cannot be
determined by race. Also, these authors argue that individuals who are educated are more
financially satisfied compared to uneducated. Additionally, married couples are financially
satisfied compared to the unmarried. I can concur with the authors that financial satisfaction can
be influenced by an individual’s way of life. Finally, the article outlines out that the solvency
ratio is connected to monetary satisfaction. Also, the authors argue that any alterations to
investment ratios also affect financial satisfaction. The article suggests that financial planners
who advise their clients on techniques to reduce debt will always have a positive impact on the
lives of those clients.
