Suggested Amendment To The Bill Of Rights Political Science Discussion Attached is the copy of the American Gov. Class Dicussion board. 2 questions Two Part Dicussion Board Questions.
1. If you could add another amendment to the Bill of Rights what would it be? You must add an
amendment. You may not suggest that the Bill of Rights is perfect as is. In your post, provide an
example of why your amendment is important.
2. Next Part Respond to this students’ comments:
if I could add another amendment to the Bill of Rights, it would have to incorporate term limits on
congress. I would suggest that members of congress be limited to two three -year terms in congress.
I believe if a member of congress knew they had a limited time in government that they would be
more willing to work together and complete their promises. This also could prevent shutdowns as if
a member has an agenda they really want to complete to try and affect change they may be more
willing to reach across the aisle to form bi partisan decisions. I would also want for members of
congress to be affected by government shutdowns. I believe like many federal employees they
should have their pay suspended until the government is reopened. I think added this amendment
would allow for congress to not only effect change but feel some of the pain others go through
during a government shutdown. So, all in all I believe term limits should be imposed and payment to
the member be paid only as long as the government remains open.
