Description
Note: Make sure to submit your assignment on time. Late submissions are not accepted and will earn zero points. You do not have to wait for the deadline – you can submit your project whenever you believe your assignment is ready, and you can upload an updated file at any point until the deadline. “Technical difficulties” and “apparently Canvas did not work” are not acceptable reasons for not submitting your project on time. Overview: This project aims at exploring ways you, as an individual, and companies can have a positive social impact in the world. In the class, we discuss how corporations have the ability and capability to tackle the big (social) problems we face in the world today. We also emphasized that the highest impact is possible through collaboration – when companies work collaboratively and interactively with all their stakeholders. As such, each of us also has the potential and the responsibility to have a positive impact. With this purpose in mind, review the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Identify one goal that you find the most interesting and would like to work on for this project. Deliverable: 1-page report. Use complete sentences, not bullet points. Paper Content and Format (35 points total): Choose one of the goals (https://www.globalgoals.org/) you find the most interesting and answer the following questions. Make sure to have an appropriate heading for each. · Goal: Which goal did you choose, and why? What is it about this goal that interests you? (personal opinion) · Key aspects of the goal: Describe some key aspects of the goal. · You: What actions can you take towards this goal? Give specific actions (at least 3) and explain how they can contribute to goal achievement. · Companies: a) What can companies do to support this goal? Make sure to give specific actions (at least 2) and explain why these actions would contribute to goal achievement while creating a competitive advantage for the company (think creating shared value). b) As a future employee, how can you make a difference in your organization to initiate action to support this goal? · Example: Give at least one example of a company that has taken initiatives towards this goal. Explain how the initiative(s) create shared value: both for the company and society. Do not forget to include the Academic Integrity Pledge Note: Citations and the Academic Integrity Pledge are NOT included in the page count. Deliverable Guidelines: · A typed, electronic document (single-spaced); must be .doc/.docx or pdf (all other file types are NOT acceptable) · Write your paper in your own words. · 1 page · Margins on all four sides: 1” · Type: 12-point font; Times New Roman or Calibri · Include an appropriate title · Your name · Bold headings (see the last page of this document) · Cite source(s), if relevant · Grammar, spelling, and attention to detail are always important – check your document carefully · Do not forget to add the Academic Integrity Pledge · DO NOT copy/paste from any site. Plagiarism of any kind will earn your project a zero. Note: You must upload your file via Canvas as noted above; do NOT copy/paste your document’s text into the assignment’s comments box, and do NOT email your project to anyone on the Teaching Team. Any file type other than .doc/.docx or pdf will not be accepted (you will receive an error message from Canvas if you try to upload any other file type in the assignment). If you do not use Microsoft Word and do not know how to save your document as a .doc or .docx file, you may wish to visit one of Penn State’s IT Service Desk locations well in advance of the due date to learn how to submit an acceptable file.
