I dont understand this Philosophy question and need help to study.
Reading: Machiavelli, Prince, Chaps. 9-23, pp.38-87
As we continue reading the Prince, we get a fuller picture of Machiavellis intentions. We also begin to see why he is often considered unethical. As he lays out the different qualities of a prince, he seems to posit that the end justifies the means. Yet, as you can see, there is a clear dedication or commitment to the people in Machiavellis thought. In other words, we have to understand the end, which is the glory and the prosperity of the city.
1. In Chapter 15, Machiavelli wonders about the qualities that a prince oughtto have. He is particularly interested in what makes a prince praise- or blame-worthy. What are these qualities?
