Your assignment is to write a paper reacting to a scholarly journal article. The purposeof this assignment is to give you practice in reading, understanding, and critically evaluating research. You are also expected to demonstrate the ability to synthesize current research with our course materials. This paper requires more than a simple summary of what you have read. Please allow yourself plenty of time to complete this assignment. You are going to write about the following article:

Answers to Part 1 should be ONLY within the text-boxes provided, using 12point Times New Roman font. Please DO NOT use a different or smaller font, or re-size the boxes. Doing so is considered UNETHICAL and will result in a GRADE OF 0 (ZERO) FOR THE ASSIGNMENT as a whole.
If there are few studies reported in the paper, please answer the questions for each study.

In your discussion, you must clearly connect the material you are learning in class with the article’s content area, theories, methodology, and/or findings.
Part 2 of the paper should not be longer than one page. Use double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font, with 1-inch margins on the bottom, top, and sides. We will deduct points for deviating from these parameters.
For clarification, Part 2 must include:
a. At least one justified original critique (that is, critique that is not based on the
limitations the authors discussed in the paper)
b. At least one suggestion for future research
c. At least one connection to class materials
d. At least one practical or theoretical implication of this study
e. Your overall impression of the article

To successfully complete this assignment, you should carefully read the article. When writing your paper, go beyond highlighting important facts and interesting findings. Ask yourself questions as you read: What are the researchers’ assumptions? How does the article contribute to the field? Are the findings generalizable, and to whom?
We strongly suggest consulting Chapter 2 (research methods) and the relevant class notes when working on this paper.

The assignment is worth 10 points of your overall class grade.
Grading criteria:
1. Each part is worth 50% of your grade.
2. We will grade both parts for
a. accuracy and clarity of answers;
b. justifications of your answers;
c. answering all the parts of each question as they appear in the answer sheet and in
the instruction on this document;
d. grammatically correct writing and adherence to length and formatting
requirements.
