After reading Chapter 15, “The Social Construction of Drug Scares,” (Adler & Adler), discuss a moral campaign that you have observed in the news media, in your own life or among your peers. What was the “moral problem,” and who were the moral entrepreneurs who brought this issue to light? Was there a moral panic? If so, what did it look like? Who are the rule enforcers who keep this behavior deviant? What are your thoughts about this process for the phenomenon you observed? Are you glad that this moral issue is being addressed? Why or why not?
