Dear Younger Me,
This exercise is to practice letter writing and use story elements to write a descriptive/narrative
account of a memorable life event/life lesson (use the experiences of ONE DAY IN YOUR LIFE
during this COVID-19 pandemic). This is an example of the format you need to use for formal
letter writing. Use one inch margins and Times New Roman 12 pt. font. Letters are written
single spaced, block style meaning that you DO NOT indent for new
paragraphs and double space between paragraphs. Your address (2 spaces), the date (2
spaces), the n), salutation followed with a comma (2 spaces), body of the letter (2
spaces), closing followed by a comma (4 spaces for signature), and finally your first and last
name.
In the first paragraph, you will use the story elements that are part of exposition to describe the
setting (time/place), characters, and the memorable lesson, problem, goal, achievement, etc. that
you will develop as a series of events (use the experiences of ONE DAY IN YOUR LIFE during
this COVID-19 pandemic).
In the second paragraph, you will describe and narrate in chronological order the series of
events showing rising action that leads to the climactic moment (most exciting part). End the
paragraph with the falling action (what happens right after the climax), and the outcome (lesson
learned, problem solution, goal achieved)
In your closing ragraph, give you advice on how to handle the situation or tips on how to
have a better result. Give words of encouragement or share information/ideas/lessons you know
today that you wish you had when this happened. End with a closing statement of the ideal end
result.
