• Please read the integrative case study entitled as “IT ISN’T SO SIMPLE:
INFRASTRUCTURE CHANGE AT ROYCE CONSULTING.” available in the
textbook “Organization Theory and Design” 11th edition by Daft, R. and answer the
following questions:

• Q.1 Based on your understanding of Lewin’s planned change model, explain how could
the partners of Royce Consulting convince its managers to accept the “hoteling” system
regarding the assignment of offices? (2 Marks). (Lo 1.1)
• Q.2 Discuss how the organizational culture of Royce Consulting can impede or support
the decision for the required changes? (1.5 Marks) (Lo 1.2 & 2.4)
• Q.3 Based on your analysis, what would you predict will be the outcome if the partners

A.1 Answer 1
There were two most significant options for the manager to invest and start a new business. These both
were about to focus on the assignment of office or go for the hoteling business in an effective way.
There is 60 percent occupancy rate which shows that there should invest in the hoteling and office
furnishing in not as attractive as hoteling. Based on the survey, the partners have decide that the option
one which is about to build the offices is expensive and has less amount of profitability and benefits
(Lu, Bartol, Venkataramani, Zheng, & Liu, 2019). It has been analyzed that option two is more
attractive as it is less expensive and it has been shown that hoteling offices will enhance the financial
advantage by $360,000 in one year and there will be one time saving based on the $410,000 in the
individual office. The partners have focus on the change model to describe the both options and to
evaluate the best option to work on that. It has been recommended by the partners that there should be
higher investment in the hoteling offices and in the hoteling office system. There is also need to
describe the centralized files with a decision on emphasis on the office sizes (Watts, Steele, Medeiros,
& Mumford, 2019).
Answer No 2
Royce had a best organizational culture and the best management personnel that is highly attractive
and effective for communicating to all employees. The organizational culture of Royce is based on the
stability as it is more stable to enhance the position of organization. There is time to time meeting and
training for all of employees and most effectively the training to new hire employees in the
organization. There is higher level of training to all employees as the structure programs in the
classroom. By providing structure program, there are main focus organizational values. The clients,
people and the reputation is based on the organizational values for using the centered policy and
philosophy in the organization to communicate in a perfect way. The management system and the
hierarchical structure of organization are also important as there is directive management style which
is effective for problem solving (Barnett & Parnell, 2016).
Answer No 3
There are some predictions if there is an effective focus on the implementation of plan that is based on
the option 2. There is higher need to focus on the profitability which is associated with the second
option. It will play a leading role if there is application of plan and implementation of innovation with
hoteling option. There will be reduction in the real estate cost and it will continuously reduce. The
projections indicate that there will increase in the benefits by using cost control strategies in the Royce.
There will be a competitive advantage in the same industry to focus on the different business idea to
control the values and to focus on the establishment of new business. There will be a business
development if there is an implementation in the hoteling offices to build as an innovation (Jorissen et
al., 2018).
