For the researched project, you will conduct the research study you designed for your researched project proposal (or a revised version) and compose an academic argument that attempts an answer at your research question. You will conduct library-based research or empirical research for this project. Relying on the Research Proposal and Annotated Bibliography, you will seek new understanding about your topic (rather than simply restating a position you already held) and contribute to the surrounding scholarly conversation in a meaningful and rhetorically purposeful way.
Consider your primary audience for this project and thoughtfully address them as you compose. Remember that your audience may be stakeholders who are impacted by an issue, uninformed citizens, and/or authorities with the power to take action. Determining your goal and the desired result of your project first will help you determine your primary audience as well as how to address them in your project.
Use APA formatting and citation practices consistently including a title page, abstract, and References page.
Think of this project as your chance to join the ongoing conversation.
Clearly state your research question and thesis early in your project. Refer to that purpose for writing throughout your project to help guide your readers and maintain focus.
Apply the sources (both primary and secondary) found in your Annotated Bibliography to contextualize, support, and develop your position. You should use quotations and paraphrases throughout your project with proper attribution.
Blend your narrative/analysis from the Incident Analysis, source material from the Research Proposal and Annotated Bibliography, and your newfound knowledge/perspective about the topic.
Who are you trying to reach in this project and what do you want to happen? Address the audience you hope to inform or persuade with attention to their potential doubts or resistance, gaps in knowledge, and questions regarding your thesis.
