LDR 535 University of Phoenix Week 6 Change Management Presentation Scenario:
You’ve been hired as a consultant to develop strategies with supporting tactics to implement positive changes in the corporation you chose in Week 5(ATTACHED)
Review your analysis of the corporation’s change process from Week 5 to be sure you have a thorough understanding of the change and the need for the change.
Prepare a 12- to 13-slide Change Management Presentation for the company’s Board of Directors. Include the following:
Evaluate why this change needed to occur.
Discuss how this change impacts the company on a global scale.
Discuss how this change impacts employees.
Using Kotter’s 8-Step Change Model, chart strategies and tactics for positively implementing the organizational change. In your chart, complete the following:
Develop strategies for each of the 8 steps in Kotter’s model
Develop tactics to support each strategy
Justify the effectiveness of each strategy and tactic with a rationale.
Conclude your presentation with an explanation of how this positive organizational change will help the company sustain a competitive advantage in the global market.
Here is the homemade template for the presentation I put together – has the face slides for the criteria areas you need to cover: (ATTACHED) Change Management at

• Criteria 3: Impact of Change on Employees
• Criteria 4-6: Strategies, Tactics, Justifications
• Developed a strategy for each of the 8 steps in the Kotter model
• Created a tactic to implement each strategy
• Justifying each strategy and tactic combo with a rationale
• Criteria 7: Explain how change helps drive a SCA*
• *Sustainable Competitive Advantage in the ‘Global’ Market
The Change and why it was Necessary
Criteria 1: 13% of possible points
Replace with Content to Meet Criteria 1
Hey folks, just a slide for my notes – in this section explain the change
you identified, that took place in the major organization you selected
and then justify/explain why the change was needed – remember to
use headers and then put the heavy lifting in the speaker notes (where
you will use sentences and paragraphs – almost like a business memo –
remember the key is to be thorough in your evaluation of why the
change needed to occur. Also, a good idea to connect to what you will
note in criteria 7 – the need to drive a global sustainable competitive
advantage – consider looking up the article Transient advantage by Rita
McGrath in HBR and referring to it in both criteria 1 and 7
Impact of Change on
Criteria 2: 13% of possible points
Replace with Content to Meet Criteria 2
Note, you can have more than one slide under each criteria and you
can adjust the format.
Key thing to do here is explain how the change impacts the company
on a ‘global’ scale – that is right from the grading rubric – a major
company will be one that operates and competes for business in more
than one country – example, Yum Brands which owns KFC, Taco Bell
and Pizza Hut
Impact of Change on Employees
Criteria 3: 13% of possible points
Replace with Content to Meet Criteria 3
Here you are evaluating how this change impacts employees – you can
pull this out of some company research and/or discuss the impact of
change on employees (how you expect they are impacted by it) – I
think this pulls directly from chapter 17 – I would use the text as one
of your sources here.
Strategies, Associated Tactics and
Rationales (Based on 8 Step Kotter Model)
Criteria 4-6: 42% of possible points (14% for each criteria)
Replace with Content to Meet Criteria 4-6
I lumped all these together as they seem to fit together – you need
approximately 8 strategies (though I guess you can combine if it seems
possible) based on the 8 steps in the Kotter model – the tactic is how
you are going to implement the strategy and then you need to provide
a rationale for the strategy/tactic combos – this is a 42% of the possible
points so feel free to deep dive a bit – consider looking up the Kotter
article on why change initiatives fail from HBR Harvard Business Review
along with using the text – ideally put things in your own words and
cite sources – not a huge fan of direct quotes
Explain how change helps drive a SCA*
Criteria 7: 14% of possible points
Replace with Content to Meet Criteria 7
Okay, right from the rubric – Thoroughly explained how this positive
organizational change will help the company sustain a competitive
advantage in the global market – do your best – key is your attempted
to explain it – I would connect back to justification from criteria 1 –
why the change was needed – now you are saying, when looking at the
implemented change one sees it helps drive that SCA – go back to Rita
McGrath’s article on transient advantage from HBR Harvard Business
Review
This is essentially your conclusion – just provide references for sources
cited on the last slide
