Johnson & Wales University Stock Trading Discussion I attached my assignment below. Please read the attached file carefully. This discussion should be one page. A. Requirement
This is the second of our portfolio discussion forums. This time around, we have much more
experience with the tool and having wrapped up the evaluation part of the course, we should have
a better grasp on the financial aspect of the companies we are working with.
I am going to post the class rankings and show how we are performing against benchmarks.
Share your best practices
Identify the trades that you made that didnt pan out and how/why you shifted direction
Discuss your growth since you first started trading
Provide examples of other sources (internal or external) that helped you make decisions
Guide each other
These are just a few suggestions as how to demonstrate leadership but feel free to showcase in
any way you can.
What I would like for you to do is post an introductory thread that has your positions that you
currently have in your portfolio. I would also like your rationale for choosing the equities (or other
investments) that you chose to include. This rationale should be more informed than the first time
through. Remember, this discussion forum should allow us to demonstrate our growth and
reflection on what we originally had as rationale or even portfolio positions. Even those that are
more informed will have the opportunity to reflect as to whether their informed decision played
out as expected. Remember that even if we think a company is going to perform strongly…we
never REALLY know how the market will react. It is still a gamble. However, just like in sports
or any other risk endeavor, those who are more informed are in a better position to make it out on
the winning side.
B. The following is what I did last week
Hello Class,
While studying the stock track, I found a very useful tip for beginners entering the stock market
for the first time. If you click on research and then click on trading ideas, it will give you a dozen
of popular stocks that are being traded. If you click on one of the companies that is listed on that
page, it will provide you with the amount of shares the company has sold, as well as the dollar
amount each share is going for. If you scroll down a little further, it will provide you with the latest
news trends on that company. Whether it be good or bad. You can’t forecast the growth of a
company by reading on stock tips, but you should stick to what you know. Invest in companies
that have remained consistent throughout. Another feature I find very useful is the tutorial videos.
It provides step by step visual learning on how to navigate through stock track. It also educates on
how to interpret a company’s financial growth and what to look for.
My current portfolio includes;
Tesla Motors Inc. (TSLA)
COVID-19 is driving down the stock prices of many companies, but Tesla stock prices have been
rising throughout the week. Also, Tesla stock surged 7% to all-time highs Tuesday, as the
company’s market value topped $200 billion (Quast, 2020).
I bought 500 quantities because the Tesla stock outlook is positive. The first reason is about the
mass-production of the Tesla Semi electric cargo truck. In other words, interest in electric
vehicles capable of ground transportation has increased, and it is predicted that the transportation
industry will be realized through electric vehicles rather than gasoline. Another reason is that it is
developing a powerful battery that can last up to 1 million miles, and Tesla’s sales in China
increasing rapidly. According to the JWU stock track, it can be clearly seen that this stock is very
stable and easy to buy and sell. In addition, the stock has been stable and has a small appreciation
since October 2019.
C. I captured following from July 11th to 18th. I traded Teladoc Health Inc.
on July 13th
If you click on MY PORTFOLIO in the stock track website, and scroll down a little
further, you can see the same page I captured below. Please just ignore VAC and HLT.
