Spring 2020
Informative Speech Assignment Packet
The purposes of this assignment are: to learn to inform an audience on a topic they know little about in an organized manner, and to learn how to use visual aids. You MUST demonstrate your understanding of the Public Speaking Chapters-this is practical application; this takes time. The following criteria are required for this speech:
A grace period is provided before deductions occur: 15 seconds short/long = A, 16-30 = B+/B,
31-60 seconds short/long = C+/C, 60+ seconds short/long= D-F.
Software is FREE to students for installation on personal devices or use a campus computer-
available throughout the campus. My favorites are-in the CLC (basement of the library)
and the Writing/Speech Lab (NACB 1114). Lab times are posted on the doors.
No VIDEO clips allowed.
All research should be properly inserted into your outline next to the evidence (usually sub-points). Please use BOLD print or highlightso I can easily find them.
Be prepared, using visuals aids often takes additional time. You should time your speech when practicing at home. I reserve the right to cut short your speech if it exceeds the time allotment.
Practice, Practice, Practice!
