Defining a project seems easy, but it can be rather difficult. A poorly written Scope Statement can lead to unsatisfactory results and lawsuits.

Select one of your projects that you used from your Week 1 Initial Discussion post and create a brief Scope Statement. Your Scope Statement should include a Project Objective statement, several Deliverables, several Milestones, several Technical Requirements and any limits or exclusions you feel necessary. In addition, identify the customer reviewer.

Please respond to at least two of your peers’ initial posts offering suggestions on how to improve their Scope Statement.

Human Resource as of now but I’m trying to change to become a Contracting NCO. This is
where I will gain experience for my MBA in Project Management that I’m currently working
on. I have a beautiful wife and a 5-year-old son. My hobbies are riding my Harley-Davidson,
working out, and spending time with my family. My favorite pet is a dog, preferably a Cane
Corso or an American Bulldog. Besides I am a student at Grantham University, where I have
currently enrolled in two courses for this term. I believe that I have basic knowledge on this
course’s topic since I have learned the concept of managing as well as leading human capital in
other courses and especially during my bachelor’s degree program. Further, I have knowledge on
how to use effective compensation plans as well as managing employee performance. After this
course is over, I hope to learn ways of improving employee innovation as well as creativity.
Also, I expect to have a better understanding of how to improve the skills of employees in the
workplace through the use of different training approaches.
1.
School
School projects are always pretty simple. At the beginning of the class, we are given the whole
eight week schedule, to include due dates and standards. I take two classes at a time because the
sooner I’m finished I’m DONE. At least with organize academia as it has been so far. I’m excited
to move onto things like my PMP and Six Sigma. When I pick a priority at school I look at due
dates first. I picked to do my posts first because they are due on Sunday’s while assignments are
not due until Tuesday. Large projects (Like finals and final projects) are likely to see collective
contributions as the eight weeks progress forward.
2.
Home
I am buying my first home in 2021. So my home project is finding it, finding financing for it,
affording it, and finding the time to manage it all around work and school. This project is
something I’m fairly casual about. I’ve lived in three countries and six states and am not entirely
all that happy with ending my “drifter” life style. This project has no deadline because it is
personal and there is no real rush. Because of the casual nature, this project is worked on at more
of a leisure than a traditional schedule.
3.
Work
We have recently received 5 new Soldiers at my unit. Which in a unit of now 53 is a lot at one
time. Our larger facility here in Germany has a parking lot but no marked parking spaces and
spot fill up quick when there aren’t any white lines on the road to mark spots. This first project is
to mark the parking area with spots to increase the volume of cars we can park in that area. Even
if it is only by two or three.
4.
Work
I’m bringing the unit into the modern century by establishing an unit Facebook page. Beginning
last week and hopefully concluding in 6 to 9 months so I can launch the unit’s Facebook page to
accommodate growth, develop a social media market, and attract new Soldiers. It will also help
the families see their Soldiers while we are deployed in combat zones at certain times.
5.
Government Projects
We have at least 4 offices inside our unit’s building that do more than third logistics. They will
order supplies and equipment that is more convenient for our Soldiers down range. Our for
offices are consisted of logistics and acquisitions. I help assist them by providing strength
management of the personnel that is downrange in combat zones. When it comes down to the
Soldier here in Germany, the four offices will also make sure they get new supplies and
equipment to increase the unit’s ability to work for new customers.
6.
Work
5 avoidable accidents in the last 5 weeks have happened between the company’s three locations.
Two box cutter “slips” and three forklifts “crashes”. This is obviously terrible. Army wide
training on the risks and proper application of both box cutters and forklift use has become
mandatory for every new employee and required both annually for everyone and after incidents
for relative employees. Security camera’s and established SOP’s for retraining are also being
adopted to try and accommodate the already existing safety programs.
Prioritizing
Prioritizing has several variables that I consider. Are people’s safety an issue? What’re the costs,
opportunity costs, and sunk costs to a project? Is there some kind of deadline? Is it a soft
deadline or a hard deadline? Can it increase our human capital? etc. Risk is also an important
variable. Usually, a safety concern or deadline will skip quickly to the top of the list. After that,
I’ll take greater consideration for things like the cost analysis and progressive time tables. It also
helps if their is some kind of OSHA or State/Federal standard to observe like an MSDS Folder or
having PPE at work stations.
Most Important Projects
Two most important/why? Number 6 (obviously) because the work place has to be safe. It was
five accidents within two weeks but it was also 5 of the 6 total accidents so far this year.
Whatever was going on has got to be something that we get a head of and fix before an injury
accident is reported, or worse. The other most important project is becoming PMP Certified. It
will change my whole mindset and culture of my unit. Having my PMP certification will also
feel a lot like “growing up” within my career. In addition to attracting newer customers, it will
also help us keep our standards up. The more money we make the more people we can hire, the
more I can afford to pay them, and the greater positive influence we can have on our community
as a company. Personally, I’d love to see us get to a point where I can announce free on sight day
care to employees or even a company sponsored gym membership.
