Section 2: What are some solutions? What might individuals do to contribute to
solutions (or avoid contributing to the problem)? More importantly, what steps
might our society do to work towards a (social) solution? What is already being
done about this (what groups are doing the work, and are they missing
anything)? Do we need to create, reform or eliminate social policy (e.g., laws,
programs, services, support systems, etc)? Conclude your paper by considering
what the future of the social problem is, in what direction are we heading?

Family Issues: Domestic Violence and Foster Care Systems

In my paper I will be discussing family issues of domestic violence and foster care systems. People end up in domestic violent situations for ample amounts of reasons. One reason can be that they grew up in a domestic violent home so they think that it’s ok because that’s what they are used to. One of the most obvious reasons is because most people that can’t control their anger result to violence. Kids end up in foster care for many reasons. One reason is because the child could have been getting beat on at home because the parent doesnt know how to properly discipline their child or kids and the school has to get involved. Second, the parents could have been on drugs or alcohol and neglected the child. Third, some parents are irresponsible and aren’t mature enough to raise the child so they push the kids on whoever else wants them. And one of the sadest reasons is that the parent might be a single parent and never wanted the kid in the first place but couldnt get an abortion so they gave the child up for adoption right away. Last reason why kids end up in foster care is because the parent reached a hardship in life and can’t support the child financially, can’t buy them clothes, shoes, or food, no electric or warm water in the house so now the parent is bouncing house to house until they are able to get back on their feet.

PStatistics

One main thing we can do as individuals is if we see someone going through family issues try to help them. A lot of people may need help and don’t know how to ask. Some people aren’t aware of all these resources that’s available to help them with whatever situation they’re going through. I think there are many solutions to solve these problems. One thing we can try and do for domestic violence situations is help the abuser understand how to handle their anger and for the victim help them leave toxic situations. A solution for kids in foster care is that at a certain age the child should be able to pick where they wanna live. I think that families should be better assessed whether it’s the foster family or biological family. Home visits should be done often and kids should be checked to make sure they are not being beat, that they have clothes, shoes, and food, and most of all make sure that they are happy.
