More men are coming out of the woodwork reporting being domesticly abused by women. There are different factors of abuse and the author of this article is explaining to use, the readers that violence against men will increase in the future. Men report domestic abuse in private but handle the reports in public. Men lose that sense of power while women inherit it through violence. Women’s power in society is changing today because they know they are not inferior to men and they’re tired of being pushed around and forced to follow this specific norm, that “men are stronger than women.”

This article gives a different perspective on violence against men. We’re always hearing stories of abuse towards women but we don’t really hear how a male experiences it or what he has to endure. Men go through different types of abuse. In one section of this article it tells you exactly how this women would act owards her hubsand, telling him “this is only affection.” Men often wonder why this is happening to them and others just take the abuse because they would never lay their hands on a women. The male being abused in the article states that he does not retaliate his wife’s actions because he doesn’t want to be labelled as an abusive partner. It is also normalized that under no circumstances is a “real man” ever to hit a women.

There are different ways to recognize domestic violence against men. There can be emotional, sexual or even physical signs of abuse. There’s also a lack of respect and balance of power. It can be pretty easy to start noticing that your relationship might have some red flags. If your partner calls you names or ties to purposely put you down that can be some big red flags to look for. It’s important for the victim to not blame themselves for what’s going on. The abuser could have experienced something traumatic to cause them to act out in this way. It’s also important

to break the cycle if you’re in an abusive relationship. Usually it won’t just happen that one time so leave that situation before it gets any worse. If there’s children involved, they’ll always be witness to this abuse and we can’t have them traumatized in that way. We shouldn’t be subjecting any child to this behavior.
