Discovery Nr. 1
The Discovery Assignment: Three times throughout the course, you
will be required to scour the internet for examples of current global
events, initiatives, or trends that you will introduce into the
curriculum of the course. This form of self-directed learning is an
important part of your development as a global leader. The
possibilities are endless, and I will not limit you to what you can
discuss here.
You may find articles, websites, videos, podcasts, newspaper clippings,
or any form of information that you are able to share with the class.
Sample topics could come from the fields of culture, religion,
sustainability, global conflict, population, world hunger, agriculture,
tourism, climate change, women’s issues, human rights, oceanography,
psychology, foreign aid, diversity, disasters, education, governance,
health, refugees, migration… the possibilities are truly endless.
Your task is to provide a link to the issue on this Class Discussion
Board, and to provide a 100-word summary of the issue/event/trend
and why you chose it. Provide a thought-provoking question or two
for your fellow classmates to ponder and respond to.
Your initial postings are always due by Midnight on Thursday. A
minimum of two responses to the work of your students are due by
midnight on Sunday.
