Hello! Please find the attached essay by Audre Lorde on “Age, Race, Class, and Sex: Women Redefining Difference.” This seminal (i.e. defining) essay by the African American feminist, poet, novelist, and thought-leader– set the stage for much of the Critical Race Theory scholarly discussions over the last thirty-six years. In addition, Lorde also pushed forward the ‘Third Wave’ of feminism and urged feminist scholars to include women of color, lesbians, and even the voices of older women fully within the feminist movement. She discusses the impact of violence on Black women and their children– in your professor’s point of view, in as a moving way as any American writer. Here is the essay — it is also attached.

2) Reflect on this essay. It was written 36 years ago–in 1984. What images or metaphors or insights from Lorde’s essay resonant with you in 2020 and why? (please write at least 200-250 words).
