Joseph Stalin’s Gulag Labor Camp System existed in the Soviet Union and also became a blueprint model for other related governments to follow. In your essay, critically evaluate the Gulag Labor Camp system. What was its purpose? Was such a system truly justifiable as an act of justice? Be sure to use Solzhenitsyn’s book as your most important source.
Guidelines:
This essay is not a summary. You are not to simply summarize Solzhenitsyn’s book.
You should plan to cite the entirety of the novel effectively. In addition, you should support Solzhenitsyn with three outside sources. J-Stor (available on UCDenver’s library website) and Google Scholar are excellent places to find these resources. Sources such as www.wikipedia.com are not acceptable in university-level work.
Your essay should be approximately 2,000 words. Essays should not be less than 1,950 words and longer essays will be accepted without penalty.
Cite your sources effectively according to MLA or APA style. Remember that long quotations should be used sparingly and long block quotations should be avoided almost entirely. Shorter quotations and paraphrasing makes for better writing.
Your essay should be in proper form with an introduction, thesis, body, and conclusion
