5. Use Feedback to Refine Your Communication
a)Describe or list the feedback you received on your written communication from the week 5 Discussion Board
b)Explain how you used the feedback to revise and improve your message Aside from a few grammatical errors, the memo conveys the message to the receiver.
To make the memo even more effective, I recommend that you start of with the background
and then the purpose (switch the first bulletin with the second).
If you can reduce the length of your sentences, the memo will be much more straightforward.
Make sure you also separated each section of ideas and label them accordingly. Right now,
your memo look like an outline of ideas and not a put together memo. The bulletin points
make it hard for me to refer back to your ideas.
it could be a letter of interest in a specific position or an email requesting to be considered for this
position and why.

STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION PLAN
Strategic Communication Plan
1.
Explanation:
a.
To introduce tethered buoy communication protocols, for naval fleets and submarines
to remain in contact BLOS (Beyond Line-of-sight) using VLF (Very Low Frequencies). This
will incorporate the use of existing optical and laser technologies in the form of wired devices
and laser beams to enhance the covert nature of the communication strategy. Recent
technological advancements have allowed modern communications equipment to interface with
older legacy equipment in a way which improves connectivity and capability. the greatest
challenge in accomplishing the task will be overcoming the hurdle of initiating outgoing
communication from naval vessels such as the submarines, without exposing their positions as
they raise their antennas.
b.
This is an opportunity to pioneer a form of communication that has remained under
test for a significant amount of time, at the expense of jeopardizing entire covert operations,
especially reconnaissance missions carried out by the navy. Due to the severity of the project on
military communications moving forward, Senior military personnel and government officials
will be following the progress of my preparation, presentation, and decisions I make with regards
to the best way of implementing the project. A more personal perspective is that this project will
present ample stage to showcase my leadership skills by achieving success.
2.
Objective
a.
My goal is to minimize the risk associated with submarine vessels communication in
the open seas. This danger arises when the submarines need to make outgoing contact, where
they have to raise their antennae above the water in order to get a signal out. A system of

communication buoys will enable relaying of messages to submarines which are submerged.
This will effectively minimize danger to personnel and enhance communication between navy
men and central command.
i. Is it clear, concise, and actionable? The project provides a clear objective to mark the
endpoint of the entire exercise. This is the ability of naval vessels to communicate whether they
are in LOS or BLOS. This also applies to their proximity to land and depth in the ocean waters.
The plan is actionable because the development in technology has enabled the use of high-speed
data transfer using laser light in fiber cabling, and the transmission of large amounts of data
using low frequencies which enable naval vessels to maintain their covert nature.
3.
Addressees
a.
The audience includes the entire navy, the communication equipment experts, the
telecommunication engineers who will be charged with installing and maintaining the
equipment, the project manager, associated government representatives and army personnel
charged with the SMEs (Subject Matter Experts). To be expected as well are local officers who
monitor the locations where the boys are to be located. The project is extensive, and all these
persons must be included in the audience.
i.
Government Contract representatives, Supply logistician, Electrician, Engine
Mechanics, Electronics communication technician, Telco program manager, Overseas
Deployment coordinator, OPTAR Manager (Operating Target, Budget), Welder, Quality
assurance/NDT coordinator, Unit OICs (Officers in Charge)
ii.
The audience will be host to a wide demographic of individuals from different walks
of life and profession. There are blue-collar personnel, white-collar executives from government,

military personnel, and technicians. All these individuals are expected to be well equipped in
handling modern-day communication equipment and are therefore deemed necessary in the
implementation process of this project.
iii.
I have been a consultant from the blue-collar firm that deals with cutting edge
communication equipment. Completion of a technicians certificate in fiber optics equipment
saw me rise to the position of a level 1 project manager. I have received numerous requests to
conduct research on the best way to initiate communication from a submerged submarine to
vessels on the surface or persons on the ground.
iv.
The engineers and telecommunication experts communication have been sourced
from reputable backgrounds, with expertise in the field of communication and especially lowfrequency communication. The senior military personnel present have varied experience in
covert operations and will provide crucial data regarding zones which present the highest
communication hurdles. The OIC will provide day to day operational conditions to formulate an
adequate template upon which the project can be initialized effectively.
v.
The engineers are excited to be presented with a chance to potentially reduce risk to
lives of military servicemen at sea, through the creation of vital communication platforms. The
senior management deems the project necessary to increase the efficiency of military work in
terms of accomplishing tasks without running losses. Majority of the military servicemen, on the
other hand, feel as if the communication lines will be redundant, since they have been
conditioned to only receive orders, and as such transmitting orders will never be a priority for
them.

STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION PLAN
vi.
As a former member of the marine core, I feel as though I owe the success of the
project to the marines who protect the country. This might create a must-win attitude that may go
as far as hampering my logical judgment when managing the project.
b.
Additional information available is the preferred mode of presentation and
communication, the distinctive time off forms and finally the type of engagement they prefer.
i.
My interactions with members of the audience will play a crucial role in defining the
scope of my entire presentation.
ii.
The audience is more knowledgeable in their various areas of expertise, and this may
prove hazardous to the presentation in the event their area is being discussed. Keeping the
audience alert and engaged throughout the presentation will be a challenge.
c.
I will use the first person and present participle tense on conveying the message.
i.
The meeting is formal. The engagement with the participants in the meeting will be
however kept as informal as possible and at times casual, to encourage brainstorming and reduce
the loss of focus throughout the entirety of the meeting.
ii.
The communication has to remain personal in most scenarios. For instance, in order
to engage the main stakeholders such as the senior government representatives and senior
management as financiers, personation the message will allow for them to permit flexibility of
the project. The engineers will be able to engage to determine the optimal mode of execution of
the project.

Main Message
a.
The project is critical in ensuring the safety of our shores. It is however not easy and
requires precision and dedication to achieve the many different elements within the project. With
the right mix of expertise, attitude, and teamwork, we will succeed.
i.
The message is compelling as it reinforces the values of teamwork in executing a
project that serves the nation rather than an individual or company.
ii.
The message quickly alerts the stakeholders to the urgency of the matter at hand, and
the difficulty level of the project.
iii.
The message brings out the different arms of the project that will need to move
together to ensure precise success in an optimal manner. The primary goal for all participants is
to increase security through improving communication lines.
5.
Backup Arguments
a.
There is no bias towards the expertise of any individual in terms of skill level, every
participant is a valued team member. Communication is encouraged to ensure the entire team
achieves their objective or realizing a communication breakthrough. The essence of ensuring
teamwork is observed is emphasized to maintain a high quality of work being done. The message
highlights the bigger picture, to retain the teams ultimate goal of ensuring the country is kept
safer through improved communication.
i.
I will be using expertise gathered from working on various projects in the blue-collar
firm regarding the use of advanced telecommunication equipment. This will provide insight into
the requirements of the engineers and other staff.

STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION PLAN
6.
Channel Choice
a.
The highly specialized assembly of individuals compels the use of the Consult/Join
communication style. This will assist me to gather more insight I can employ in the execution of
the project. After the project details have been finalized and agreed upon, the tell/sell approach
will ensure work is done precisely.
b.
Presentations will be done through the use of visual slides. This mode allows for all
audience members to have a visual aid of the project in question and assists them to understand
the scale and scope of the entire project.
c. What Purpose is served by each channel you have selected? The presentation using
visual slides assists stakeholders in the project understand the different components of the project
and allows them to articulate each to the other in a way which will reinforce the notion that all
members of the team are valuable and necessary to enable completion of the project. Through the
slides, the team will understand the equipment to expect, the nature of the terrain they will
operate in and the timing of each event to ensure optimal utilization of time.
7.
Action Request
a.
The call to action to maintain a team environment is easy to understand, clear and
actionable. This mode of operation will allow for the easy movement of critical information
through the different chain of command and ensure an efficient process is achieved.
