City Colleges of Chicago CH8 Washington Blog on the Central Park Five HW This analysis requires you to watch a documentary that is long, but *extremely* good. The crime that it concerns was probably the most-covered crime in the news media in the 1980s–but, as it turns out, this was a case that had many problems.
The film is “The Central Park Five.” To access it, you will need to go to https://www.pbs.org/show/central-park-five/. The full video is by Ken Burns and Sarah Burns; its length is 1:58:46.
Watch the film, then address the questions below in an anaytical blog post of approximately more than 500 words, The post will be graded on its understanding of labeling theory, the quality of its application of labeling theory to the film, and the quality of the writing.
How does “The Central Park Five” demonstrate the effects of labeling theory? What labels did the Five receive? Did the Five deserve the labels they received? How does the film show the implications of labels–particularly for those individuals who receive them without merit? Do you consequently think we should try to limit the negative aspects of labeling theory? If so, how? If not, why not?
You need to watch it!!

Take at least 20 notes (bullet pointed) over the readings, focusing on what you think are the most important parts of neighborhood theories–such as defining key terms, highlighting what the theories identify as key causes of crime, measurement issues, how labelling theories developed, etc. Put the author/page number the point is from next to the note.
