Stock Selection and Rationale Paper (40 points): At the beginning of the semester, select three (3)
companies’ stocks to invest $25,000 in. One of the companies should operate globally. Gather initial
purchase data about these three companies and explain why you selected these three companies. A
written assignment is required for this first graded assignment of the Stock Market project. Follow
Template Provided (4 pages minimum, including cover sheet and reference page)
Part 2
For a 12-week period, you will track the weekly stock performance for the (3) stocks by recording the
closing price for that day on the spreadsheet. Use the provided template for best tracking calculations.
Part 3
Final 12 Week Analysis Paper: Address each topic for each of the three stocks:
(1) company description, mission or purpose statement, or mini-history (Keep it very brief),
(2) product descriptions (Don’t make these up), product categories and new product development,
(3) competitors and industry characteristics and trends and international operations/expansion,
(4) an analysis of the company’s stock performance 2014-present,
(5) mergers, acquisitions, company news, law suits, or other factors affecting performance and stock
price during the tracking period,
(6) analysts’ outlook for 2014-2019 and industry trends, and
(7) your analysis of each stock’s/company’s outlook based on your tracking, and if you would
recommend a buy or sell.
Cite your sources and include a bibliography. (Minimum of six (6) pages, including cover sheet and reference
page)
