Discussions help me verify your attendance, but they also allow some peer support as you deepen your understanding together. Note that you must visit the discussion area twice during the week to maximize your points and comment on entries by two of your peers. Here is how I grade your discussion posts:
Your first response by Wednesday. Follow up rebuttals are due by Sunday of the same week. This will ensure maximum points and for me to give timely feedback to the discussions.
APA Format, with citations if needed.
APA errors will be -2 for each mistake
Ensure you do not plagiarize; the instructor will be using Grammarly to check your submissions. Grammarly Premium is offered at no additional cost to you through Spartan; it is not the “Free” online version.
250 words minimum (-20 Points).
Make sure you are answering all portions of the question or questions being asked. Example: If it is a two-part question then you will automatically start at 50 points if you fail to respond to both parts of it.
Recommend that you use Grammarly (Settings to Academic, Essay, and Plagiarism) to check your post before submitting it, this will allow you to catch all easily correctable spelling and grammar errors (-1 Point per mistake).
Utilize the information and knowledge obtained from the chapters reading material and use it to answer the question (failure to do this will result in points being deducted). Once you have demonstrated your knowledge of the chapter’s information, it is always acceptable to use a personal experience to give an example of the situation.
Every student must respond to at least 2 of your classmate’s posts, must be more substantial than I agree/disagree or I like/dislike your classmates post (-5 points each rebuttal not posted)
Rebuttal to other students post must be a minimum of 30 words. If not, there will be a -3 point deduction

Locate an article and review it in an aviation context. Include the article website address.
Tell about the article you selected and the relevance you found for it in the industry
This article can be over anything relating to the aviation industry – accidents, growth, or something which simply interests you.
You won’t be able to see other responses until you enter your own. This gives everyone a chance to be authentic without influence of other comments. Remember that these are maximum scores and your grade will be reduced for any entry without substance. “I liked it” or “I agree” doesn’t cut it.
