PAPER GUIDELINES:

Use MLA Guidelines to cite your sources (within the paper and include list of sources).

Include the following required information:

___ 1. Brief biographical information (birthplace, education). Clear career path and significant projects.

___2. Describe the style/s of the photographer (documentary, abstract, sport, etc.) Include at least 5 images by the artist in the body of the paper. You must include the source of the photograph/s within the paper (where you got the photograph) for each image shown. When possible, include title, print dimension, and year for each image.

___ 3. What is the meaning of the work? How do you interpret it?

___ 4. Name and SHOW the work of one other artist who works in a similar manner. Include one image. Compare and Contrast their artwork with the artwork of your chosen artist.

___5. How is this work promoted and seen? For example, what kinds of institutions and publications are the work exhibited? (Galleries, Museums, Books, Zines, Social Media, etc.) Do they promote on social media – if so which?

___6. Pick one image by the artist and critique it (This image must be included). Thoroughly discuss composition and concept.

PAPER EVALUATION:

Thoroughly addressing the required points: 70% (10 POINTS EACH. Partial credit may be granted if responses are not thorough)
Organization, Spelling, Grammar, Appropriate Length: 10%
Research – List of sources in alphabetical order at the end of the paper AND proper citations within the paper using MLA guidelines. At least four different sources must be consulted for full credit. Wikipedia may not be listed as a primary source: 20%
