Your job is to analysis the similar theme(s) in a real world event and Robert Frost’s “Fire and Ice”. You will write an explication essay. When you write an explication you do a close reading of a work or a portion of a work, carefully analyzing one or more of its elements, in this case the theme. You will basically focus on the similar theme(s) present in the text and real world event and discuss how that influences, adds, or takes away from the literary work. You will always want to focus a portion of the essay on how the theme(s) is timeless and relevant across multiple literary genres.
