As time progresses, the business models keep getting better and better. Businesses are coming up with new and creative ways to bring in more customers or rather, alternative ways than just the simple dine-in. Now a days, many restaurants are incorporating alternate strategies to run their business, such as Uber eats. I believe Uber Eats, Postmates, GrubHub, and Doordash could be beneficial and harmful at the same time. It is beneficial because those 4 platforms are the main food delivery app, therefore makes it easier for the restaurant to find new and local customers. It also helps grow the restaurant business by having a new technology innovation. Everyone uses technology now a days, so, it makes it easy to run your business at any time you will like. Not to mention that they are reliable, which makes it easier for locals to order more often. Many hungry people will be loyal to the delivery app that gets them their food the fastest. Now let’s look at the harmful side, those delivery apps can cause bad reputation for your restaurant because if the food takes longer than expected or if the food comes cold, customers will have a trashy image of your restaurant in their heads. Another reason could be that customers will shift their loyalty away from the restaurant to the delivery service, therefore, you won’t need all the employees anymore if not a lot of people will come in to dine in. Now let’s talk about COVID-19, many new business models emerged during this time such as offering delivery and takeout to comply with social distancing measures. Many restaurants used “curbside pick-up,” family meal kits, or simply a DIY kits. Restaurants is all about growth and accommodation. We have to accommodate and think of an alternative way to keep providing service every time a new crisis emerges.
