Next, some important training methods such as,
transfer of training, which is what the individual
learned and putting it on the job. There are 5 areas
to help the trainee become better at the job
1)Feedback through testing or questioning the
trainee 2)General principals- explain why it is being
done and how it gets done 3) Identical elements-
training is identical to how the job will feel and look
like 4)over learning- learn a bit more of whats
expected of the trainee, so when he works he
knows more detail. 5) Automaticity- when tasks are
done without being observed. I would also use part
training, which breaks the tasks into components
instead of doing everything at once and feeling
overwhelmed with Massed training because it has a
longer period of time during the day to train. Role
play and modeling are both important in teaching
restaurant workers because modeling is when the
trainee watches another person then imitates the
job. It can be done for learning how to cook, waiter,
or be the cashier. The same as role playing,
pretending to do the job until you get it right.
To evaluate the effectiveness of the training, I
would use the five step process- 1)Develop
criteria-what trainees can do at the end of training
2)Choose design-a design that shows the data, for
example the pretest post test design 3)Choose
measures of the criteria-knowledge and skills tests
4)Collect data 5) Analyze data and interpret results-
analyzed with inferential statistics and use a t-test
to compare scores.
