A Comparison of Health Care

For your final project, you will write a paper and create a proposal presentation.

Your paper should compare the health system of a developed country of your choosing to the United States. You may select any developed country from the Developed Countries List for which the World Bank provides detailed health, nutrition, and population statistics. You can start here. Specifically, you will need data on both health outcomes (e.g., life expectancy and infant mortality) and health-system resources (e.g., number of physicians and hospitals per capita).

Your 10-12-page paper should analyze major reforms in the history of your chosen country’s health system and the current state of the health system. You will also present a proposal on why that health system would be more effective in the United States than the current health system.  Your proposal will also have to describe the history and current state of the United States health system for a comparison.

• The paper should utilize APA format (6th edition) and include references and citations for at least 10 scholarly sources.
• The presentation will be 10-15 slides with video and/or voice of your presentation to United States stakeholders on your proposed healthcare reform.

Your deliverables have been broken into the following milestones across eight modules:

• Module 1 will be spent researching the various developed countries and their healthcare systems.
• Module 2 deliverable is to decide on the country that you will study. Write a 1-2-page assessment on that country and why you believe their healthcare system is working. This will be non-graded.
• Module 3 deliverable is the outline of what you will include in your paper and presentation to stakeholders. Include who the stakeholders would be to propose changes to healthcare in The United States. This will be non-graded.
• Module 4 deliverable is the APA (6th edition) formatted list of at least 10 scholarly sources that you will cite within your paper. For assistance in determining what is scholarly, please review Determine If a Source Is Scholarly. This will be non-graded.
• Module 5 deliverable is the proposed abstract, introduction and conclusion of your paper for instructor feedback. For assistance, please review How to Write an APA Abstract and Introductions & Conclusions. This will be non-graded.
• Module 6 has no deliverables. Work on writing your paper, which is due in Module 7.
• Module 7 deliverable is the final submission of the 10-12-page paper. This will be graded.
• Module 8 deliverable is the final submission of the 10-15-slides presentation. This will be graded.
