Description
1. Topic Sentence: a statement that identifies the argument you are going to make and develop in your paragraph. This should support your thesis for a full literary analysis essay. 2. Context Sentence(s): a brief summary of the background of what you are going to analyze. In literary analysis, this is about your scene of discussion, explaining who is speaking to whom, when, and what has happened just before/after. 3. Integrated Quotation(s): the chunk of text that you are using to prove your argument, neatly integrated into the flow of your paragraph. 4. Commentary Sentences: explain the meaning of the text you are using and the importance of the ideas you get from what you are discussing. 5. Conclusion Sentence(s): general statements summarizing the main argument you have put forth in the paragraph and what ideas they have led you towards; these should link back to your topic sentence and, ultimately, your thesis.
