Executive Summary
Leaders in the insurance and risk mitigation industry, like many other industry executives, continuously
seek routes to profitable growth amid the unprecedented changes. Executives in the insurance and risk
mitigation industry have realized that it would be close to impossible to pursue top-line growth without
proper innovation. The XN project is based on labs to present a platform for the innovators to engage in
experimental learning that will enable them to become more inventive. More specifically, this project is
geared towards experimental learning opportunities and solving insurance or risk related problems to
help the company strike a strategic balance that will sustain profit growth as well as shareholder returns
over time. Through the labs, the company will be able to solve insurance and risk associated problems
through the identification of existing gaps in the current offering and use the insights to design products
as well as services that meet these problems.
The project employs the program evaluation review technique. This involves identifying the specific
tasks, establishing the proper sequence of these tasks, estimating the amount of time required to
complete each project task, and determining the critical path. The structure of the project is drawn from
the functional design, whereby the major functional area will be addressed by team members. XN
project, would therefore, reveal the concerns the management have presenting its customer with
optimized products and services something which could be ascertained by developing the labs.

Exclusions (Out of Scope)
Some of the project scope items will not be addressed by the project given that the tasks to be delivered
by the project managers will be beyond the scope of the project. A project charter is one of the items
given that it will provide the set expectations of the project where in case of any changes; a significant
analysis will be done. Feasibility of the project will as well be one of the project scope items given that it
will be influenced by any relevant changes to the scope of the project. In addition to that, benefit
realization will be considered as project exclusion given that the project will focus on the benefits of the
business and its returns on investment. Any changes on the out of cope will mean that the retune on
investment will be affected by changes that might impact negatively.
6
Project Constraints
Resources will likely limit XN projects given that a lot of money will be required to facilitate the creation
of a fully equipped plan that will be used by the scientists. To raise this amount, a lot of time will be
needed to acquire it and budget on it by allocating each task with the required resources. Project risks
are also constraints that will likely limit the project managers from meeting their set objectives. Proper
control; measures will thus have to be taken to ensure that the project manages to oversee the
speculated risks in XN Company. Also, the quality of the project can be a limiting factor as the outcome
of the project should meet the set expectations. Here, elements such as time will play a huge role in
determining whether the project will meet the quality expected by the company.
7
Assumptions & Risks
In running the project, there will be various assumptions that will focus on the anticipated events that
will likely come up while running the project during its life cycle. Some of these assumption are that XN
will be able to create labs to be used as a platform for the innovators to engage in experiential learning
and encourage them to become more inventive.it is also expected that the company will be in a position
to acknowledge the needs of the customers and engage them when designing goods and services.
However, certain risks are expected that will limit the scope of the project such as budget, running the
schedule and resources to apply in meeting the goals of the project.
