WINTER SPRINGS SAFETY
NEWS
Introduction
It is sometimes easy to forget basic safety procedures when we live in a secure, gated community. Unfortunately,
outside our Winter Springs neighborhood, there has been an increase in thefts of electronic devices. Our security team
has created these guidelines to help you stay safe when venturing beyond our gates.
Most Targeted Electronic Devices
It seems like nowadays we all carry electronic devices with us wherever we go. While we don’t expect you to leave these
items at home, it is good to be aware of the items that thieves look for as easy targets. The security team at Winter
Springs has compiled a list of the most targeted electronic devices:
1)

Our Safety Vision
Resident safety has been one of the main focuses of the association this year. One recent change in policy is to have
officers work round the clock in three eight hour, overlapping shifts. This guarantees that at any time of the day or night
an officer is manning the gate with two other officers patrolling the grounds available to respond to calls from residents.
The association believes in informing our residents of any criminal incidents within our surrounding neighborhoods. To
get the most up-to-date information, click here.
Security Staff
The Winter Springs Community currently employs eight round the clock (day, evening, and midnight shifts) security
officers and six day shift security officers (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. shift) with three managing officers, one of which is always on
duty.
Managing Officers
Tom Wilson – Senior Security Manager
Mr. Wilson has been an employee of Winter Springs for over 25 years. He first started as a part-time officer while he was
in college getting his degree in Criminal Justice. Mr. Wilson has been a proponent of implementing the latest in security
technology at Winter Springs and continues to evaluate the “state of safety” at Winter Springs.
Maria Villanueva – Security Manager
Ms. Villanueva has been an employee of Winter Springs for 17 years. Her background in criminal justice, including seven
years with the local police force has been invaluable in making Winter Springs as safe as possible for our residents.
Myles Brockman – Security Manager
Mr. Brockman has been an employee of Winter Springs for two years. Although, he has only been with Winter Springs a
short time, Mr. Brockman has over 15 years’ experience managing large security teams for commercial and residential
complexes.

community center. All residents are encouraged to attend these meetings to voice any concerns regarding Winter
Springs’s security policies. At each meeting Tom Wilson presents the latest crime statistics and is there to answer any
