University of Toronto Ethical Issues in The Industry Analytical Review Requirements.

My part combined is no longer than 3-3.5 pages of 2 parts.

First part:

– Literature review of ethical issues in the industry (which should be 1-2 pages) and

Second part:

– Identify past ethical issues- major scandals (what has been done to repair those damages as well?)

Both of those parts are highlighted In red and bold in the attached document:) with more detail 🙂

The industry we are looking at and writing about will be the Artificial intelligence industry as a whole. Examples of external and internal ethical issues within different AL industries (example; google and amazon) need to be given and compared.

Student teams are tasked with the development of an ‘industry audit’ as it relates to ethical issues in the
industry. The teams will review the industry, prepare a short literature review of said industry, and
present past ethical issues.
Students will work in teams 4 – pending even numbers
The term project will be comprised of two parts.
– Part 1: Report
o 7-10 Pages + Appendices
o Single spaced
o Size 11- Calibri font- normal margins
o Contents
▪ Introduction to the industry/ industry overview/ major players in industry
• Size, location, etc.
• Porters 5 Forces may be interesting here
▪ Literature review of ethical issues in the industry
• Should be 1 -2 pages
▪ Identify past ethical issues- major scandals
• What has been done to repair those damages▪ Identification of current ethical issues
▪ Identification of best practices in industry
▪ Identification of future state for industry
• Can be Canada, North America, or Global

Industry Overview- 20%
– Team has completed a comprehensive review of the industry including but not limited to:
o Size
o Financial analysis
o Location
o Major players
Literature Review- 20%
– Team has exhausted academic materials and succinctly summarized into a single scholarly
paper
o journals, whitepapers, text
o all secondary sources
Ethical Issues/ Scandals – 20%
– Team has clearly identified and understood ethical issues companies, or the industry as a
whole is facing
Ethical Best Practices – 20%

Team has found and clearly laid out best practices within the industry
Future State – 20%
– Team has suggested industry trends and future state of how the industry is projecting
– Team can make recommendations based on opinion as it has clearly understood the industry as
a whole

We are thinking of looking for 2-3 ethical issues internally within the AI industries as a whole including
examples as well as 2-3 ethical issues externally! For example, if Google and Apple have the same ethical
issue internally that would be perfect to be written down and comparing and contrasting AI industries…
