Scenario

Your boss has asked you to implement a new rotating work schedule that requires employees to work different schedules each week. She would like to know how other companies in the area have handled their schedule changes in the past to determine if their change model is applicable to this situation.

Review the discussion with the organization you contacted in Week 5, and consider whether you would use any of the strategies to implement a new rotating work schedule.

Prepare a 3- to 4-slide presentation (e.g. Microsoft PowerPoint, Prezi®, etc.) to build a business case for your boss and your organization’s leadership team. Your presentation should include speaker notes, and ensure you do the following:

Analyze the change requested by your boss:
Analyze the impact of this change to the bottom line (profit, productivity, and expenses).
Analyze the desired result or goal.

Cite references to support your assignment. It is recommended that you use the textbook, the University Library, and the internet.

Interview with company XYZ’s Representative Mr. X on change management
strategies employed to implement changes intended to improve company efficiency and
effectiveness that will ultimately improve the bottom line.
(After introductions)
Q1: As a change leader, how do you recognize a need for change?
Mr. X: Change is necessary for any business to survive in today’s dynamic
environment. For this company, we usually employ the easiest method to determine if we
need to make changes in our structure or routines, that is the SWOT analysis. When you
determine your company’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats you can access
what your company needs to do to gain a competitive edge, minimize those weaknesses and
strengths and maximize on those opportunities and strengths,
Q2: Have you ever managed any organizational changes in the past? If yes, can you
tell me what the change was all about?
Mr. X: Yes. I remember this one time where we had to change our management style.
We were performing poorly and we were losing numerous customers to the new blood that
were coming in. With this digital age where the customer is king and is the focal focus of
most business our traditional management style just wasn’t working anymore and we had to
change it to be more radical if we had any hope of the business surviving.

Q3: What challenges did you face when it came to implementing the changes and how
did you handle them?
Mr. X: We faced various challenges during that time. Everyone was uncertain about
their position and worried that they’d get fired and so many were resistant to the changes but I
was able to handle that by accessing and determining all those affected by the change and I
communicated this to every employee to ease tensions and to get them to cooperate.
