University of North Texas Project Management Education Requirements Research Paper Once your industry has been chosen. Your group will break down the industry to gather information. EACH INDIVIDUAL group member will write a 4-6 page paper on their topic about the industry.

Overview and Introduction to Industry. This person should write a 4-6 page paper that provides an introduction and overview of the industry. This includes an industry introduction, an explanation (not list) of industry trends, industry challenges, and industry leaders (companies). Consider this as the introductory information ACP and veterans would want to know in order to help veterans determine if this industry appeals to them. (Tip: Top consulting firms like to publish articles online through their companies’ websites and industry journals, covering rising industries as a way to lure clients who are not yet industry leaders and need guidance.)
Companies that have the best veteran support within a specific industry. This paper will explain what types of veteran support programs are found in companies within this industry. What do all of these programs have in common? What is unique about each program? What is unique about this company’s investment in its veterans? What gaps do these companies need to fill to better support veterans? What is an ideal veteran program within this industry? Gather information about the programs and provide an overview that helps a veteran choose which programs and companies are best suited for him or her.
Demographics of the industry: What is the current breakdown by gender, age-range, and ethnicity in this industry? What are companies in this industry doing to increase the diversity of their veteran population? Are there any lifestyle considerations that lure or detract people from this industry? For example, can people work remotely? Do people have flexibility? What are the hours? (Note: Be careful not to make generalizations. Instead, look for resources that will call out reasons particular groups are not represented and what companies in this industry are doing to counteract this pattern.)
Networking: Explore LinkedIn and social media to find industry organizations and experts. Find an industry expert to interview to get a first-hand account of this industry as they see it and the network they build over time to develop their expertise. Who do they seek for mentoring both at the start of their career and now? Who do they consider in their peer group? What type of expertise do they seek to for work-related questions, ideas, and feedback? Who do these experts mentor and what programs do they mentor in? What topics are most commonly discussed in their network both in-person and on social media? What role does social media play in how they communicate or develop their network? And most importantly, what are their tips for veterans looking to build a career in this industry after serving? What are some best practices for networking in this industry?
Jobs/Careers/Soft Skills/Hard Skills Provide an employment snapshot of this industry by explaining: 1) The most common entry-level jobs in this industry, 2) The career paths from these entry-level jobs, 3) the soft skills and hard skills each career path requires for success at all levels, and 4) what experience needs to be gained over time to be successful in this career. For example, engineers don’t all work in the IT industry, but what might be unique about an engineering career path in healthcare?
What type of education is needed for this industry? What are the best schools to help veterans receive the best education that will fit the needs of this industry? What types of undergraduate and graduate degrees do people in the industry have in different their roles? Consider including a few not-so-expected degrees that give students transferrable skills the industry is looking for. What are the post-graduate certifications and training commonly found in this industry and when are they most useful?

After each member of the group explores one of the six topics in a 4-6 page individual paper, you will compile and consolidate an information sheet for ACP. You will then create a formal presentation to present to ACP informing them of your industry. You are wanting to inform ACP of this industry so they can inform and guide veterans and their spouses to better place them with mentors within this industry. How can they help encourage companies to help support and employ veterans and their spouses?
