Theory X and Theory Y
This week’s readings expose the class to the various motivational theories that have been developed to date. The list in the text covers the major theories, but is neither complete, nor are they applicable to all occasions and to all employees (refer to Theory X and Theory Y).
As an exercise, each student is asked to conduct a literature review of motivational theories.
Please create and discuss your own motivational theory based upon your experiences as an employee (or as a manager). Students may adopt portions of the theories discussed in the text or literature in formulating your own.
