You are the head of Nigeria’s Development Taskforce Team. Your job is to make plan to
improve the HDI of Nigeria. (HDI is a combination of Education, Health, and Income

Scenario:
You have been chosen to speak to a select group of people that have important roles in your
country’s government – the Prime Minister or President, the Ministers for Health, Education
and Finance.
The problem:

Solving the Problem:
There are three ways problems like these are often solved:
A. Using the government: the government makes a law, or invests, or does
whatever it needs to do to fix the problem.
B. Using foreign aid: foreign governments give aid to the government, or
organisations within the country that help fix the problem. (Not all foreign aid is like this).
C. Using the market place: trading goods (stuff for money) and services
(doing stuff for others for money). Individuals and groups within the country can then use
the money to fix the problems themselves.
Some Ways That Countries Can Reduce Inequality & Promoting Development
Education
•Educated individuals have greater employment opportunities and earn higher incomes
•An educated workforce is innovative and productive, benefiting everyone in society and
providing superior goods and services
