Reflective Clinical Case Study
Word Limit: 3000 words (excluding reference list and title page) Task description This individual assessment item provides students with an opportunity to analyse, and discuss the care and management of a client/patient from their clinical practice. Specifically, the Reflective Clinical Case Study will enable students to examine the roles and responsibilities of nurses in the Australian Health Care System (as these articulate with their role as a beginning Registered Nurses), and demonstrate skills in reflective practice to ensure autonomy as a lifelong learner. Practical application Focus on a client/patient you have cared for during your clinical placement: 1. Include a brief overview of the client/patient’s condition, and presenting situation. You may include a brief outline the aetiology of the condition or disorder 2. Discuss your chosen client / patient case: 1. You may like to use a reflective framework (e.g. Gibbs Reflective Cycle) to assist your reflection. You may choose an alternative framework of reflection if you prefer. 2. Analyse and discuss / evaluate your performance in relation to the ANMC (Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council) Competency Standards for Registered Nurses (You do not need to aIDress all domains or elements of each domain but ensure you identify which domain/s and elements you are discussing) Be sure to include both the positive and negative aspect of your care. 3. Identify what aspects you would change in future practice (i.e. your learning through reflection). In other words, if you were to care for similar patients in the future, what would you do differently? Why?
