Methodology ( We started it but need to thoroughly go into detail) This study proposes a quantitative methodology to investigate the effectiveness of services provided in independent living program in increasing the independence of youths that have aged out of foster care. The study will have two independent variables and two dependent variables. The independent variables are employment and education services offered through the selected county’s independent living programs (Sacramento County, 2019). The dependent variables are employment and college educational attainment 5 years after leaving foster care.The treatment group will consist of 100 youths (n= 100) who received the two services before leaving foster care 5 years ago, in 2015. These are youths who had attained the age of 16 years or more prior to leaving foster care.The control group will consist of 30 youths who left foster care without receiving either employment or education services for one reason although they were eligible for participation. The study will be cross sectional. The primary data collection tool, a survey designed to take about 50 minutes, will be administered electronically to the participants. Responses from treatment and control groups will be analyzed to identify whether there are statistically significance differences in terms of employment and educational attainment between aged out of foster care youths who receive and those who do not receive employment or educational skills under independent living programs.
