Response to the Discussion
The issue of transformational leadership within the organization emanates from the leader
or managers ability to lead all members of staff. From the discussion, I support the idea that
Rachel is practicing transformational leadership due to her ability to lead her member using 4Is,
including idealized influence, inspirational motivation, and proper stimulation (Northouse,
2019). Furthermore, a good leader considers the plight of all employees, including understanding
their personal problems and helping them to cope with challenges that could emerge in the
workplace. In this case, the aspect of supportive leadership from the transformational leader
arises, which enables employees to feel free to approach the manager. Friendly leaders support
employees at all times and give them freedom to work on their own so that they can feel as part
of the organization (Northouse, 2019). Therefore, a leader such as Rachel views her employees
as valuable assets that the organization can rely on at all times.
While no business can consider not valuing their employees, some leaders do not
encourage workers and use authoritative mechanisms to manage them. As a way of ensuring that
employees cooperate and feel appreciated in the organization, the use of participative leadership
plays a crucial role in engaging followers in the decision-making process (Northouse, 2019). The
process encourages consultations between leaders and employees. Managers use the issues raised
in the different discussions to acquire ideas and opinions, which the leaders use to make
decisions and suggestions that can contribute to the success of the organization (Northouse,
2019). Leaders such as Rachel should not give up on the aspect of transformational leadership. I
consider criticism as a way that leaders can use to gauge their performance, which they can use
to improve the organizations performance.
