With increased technological development and the use of company systems, there has
been an increased rate of cyber threats. Intruders are targeting the company`s systems, which are
weak and which they can easily fetch the company`s data. The research will be specifically
analyzing non-governmental organizations, which have been the recent targets of cybercrimes. In
the recent past, non-governmental organizations in the United States have been affected by
cybercrimes, whereby hackers are targeting the monetary resources by frauding funds from other
sponsor institutions or even accessing their banking accounts. Research shows that many of the
non-governmental organizations’ funds barely help the intended recipients since their funds are
stolen through online tricks. Information is a crucial aspect when it comes to institutions, and
without it, non-organizations cannot survive. Very few non-governmental organizations have
effectively implemented security features, and therefore they are at risk of attack. The acts have,
therefore, increased the cost of running such institutions. The required data will be fetched from
non-governmental institutions, mostly the ones, which have experienced a cyber-attack. The
specific focus organization will be Orbis International, which was once affected by the issue of
cybercrime. The study will apply a qualitative research methodology. Mierzwa, 2017 researched
on the threats of cyber-attacks affecting non-governmental organizations and discovered that it is
a major problem affecting their operations. The major problem is the increased cost of operation
whereby the institutions are forced to raise funds from other avenues, and yet the funds were
available. With a closer look at the non-governmental organization and the numerous cyber
threats affecting them, it will be easier to determine why the costs are on the rise. The research
by Mierzwa suggested that non-governmental organizations need to be keen on how they handle
their information as well as their financial schemes. Training and technological advancement
will be issues that need to be emphasized.
