Submit the improved version of the as-planned (baseline) schedule (you improve the as-planned schedule based on the feedback received from your instructor on previous portfolio milestone submissions), and in half a page, describe the as-planned schedule and describe the project’s critical path to explain how you arrived at the projected completion date.
Then provide a .pdf version of an updated schedule about the midway point of the schedule. This updated schedule should show that your project is behind schedule. Your updated schedule must show that a minimum of three critical and five near- and/or non-critical activities are behind schedule. (Highlight these activities or make some notes on the schedule to identify these activities.) To update your schedule, you need to assign actual start/finish dates or activity percent completes to completed or in-progress activities. It is up to you to decide how far the project has progressed.
Provide a minimum of a page to discuss what could be done differently to prevent delays from occurring and explain how the schedule can help find the best strategies to complete the project as soon as practically feasible.
In identifying delay-preventing strategies, consider discussing strategies that focus on effective planning and scheduling techniques, evaluating productivity, project monitoring and controlling, and effective financial management.

Submission requirements:

References: Incorporate your textbook plus at least three of the recommended readings for the course. In 2015, I oversaw a home remodel project for a local homeowner and his family. My
father was the owner of the house, which was given to him by my grandfather, and at the time, I
was working in construction. I was pursuing a degree in Construction Management, which
allowed me to lead the remodeling project. The primary source of the labor on the remodel was
volunteers that consisted of friends and family. Most of the work was completed by them the
volunteers while I oversaw. Jacob Morgan, the General Contractor, was hired for the QC and
was subcontracted primarily. When addressing the HVAC, electrical, fireplace and rough-in
plumbing in the remodel, it was determined that each would be subcontracted out as well as the
engineering and design were also subcontracted out to a local firm. Below, the WBS assigns the
responsibility of the individual activities throughout the remodel.
Fortunately, the foundation did not need to be constructed because we were able to
demolish the house without causing ant damage to it. The house was given to my father; it made
sense to tear down the existing structure and rebuild it on the foundation. The only thing that
needed to be done was to prep the site and cleared everything down to dirt and foundation.
Doing this saved a significant amount of money, which was used in other areas of the remodeled.
After the site was prepped and the engineering was complete, the next phase, framing the house
and roughing in, began. The plans for the remodel included four bedrooms with a master
bedroom, a bathroom in the hall, and an additional off the master bedroom on the second floor.
On the first floor was an open floor plan with one ample family space, a large kitchen, and a
bathroom.

When the framing and rough-in electrical and plumbing were completed, the installation of
all mechanical systems was completed. As mentioned above, all this work was subcontracted
out; the volunteers completed much of the Romex and plumbing during the framing phase. The
responsibility of the electrician and plumber was primarily to hooked up the mains and checked
all the work done for accuracy, safety, and code. As stated above, an HVAC technician was hired
to do install the entire system. My father and I decided that it would be too large of an
undertaking, and the risk was significant for the volunteers that would be involved.
Regarding the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, once completed, the volunteers, my
father, and I completed the rest of the project, with one exception. The local Lowes was offering
free installation on flooring, so to save a substantial amount of time, we went that route. The only
other thing that needed to be done was some minor landscaping: sod, plants, and some mulch.
