Phone Using Etiquette Honesty and Health Awareness Paper follow the instructions in the word document. i will also attach an old Values essay for you to look at and take the values from it to use in this essay. At a funeral, really? Driving? Have you seen the data about
texting and driving? Not good!
We’ve all seen people make poor choices about when to use
their mobile communication devices. When isn’t it appropriate
and safe to use your cell phone. The paper has 3 parts:
1. VALUES ASSOCIATED WITH THE USE OF MOBILE
COMMUNICATION DEVICES: Think about the values you selected
for your Values Paper. Are any of them relevant to deciding
when and when not to use your mobile communication
devices? Select two human values that are relevant to
consideration of etiquette and safety issues associated with
mobile communication device use. Explain how these values
should guide your decisions about when to use/not use your
mobile communication devices. Write one paragraph
per value. (If none of your values are a good fit, substitute
with relevant values from the Family Values Tournament.)
2. NO MOBILE COMMUNICATION DEVICE USE ALLOWED!: Develop a
list of at least 6 mobile communication device “no nos,” that is,
times you should NOT use your mobile communication
device. Select situations in which it is not appropriate to use a
cell phone. (Don’t talk specific aps that have specific uses.)
3. Finally, I want you to respond to a modified version of Question
3 from DotCalm. To what degree are you tethered to the various
productivity tools that you use? How essential are these tools to
your ability to live and work well? Also, can you think of any
ways your devices might be negatively impacting your ability to
live and work well? How consistent are your personal use habits
with the two values you identified in Part 1 of this
assignment? Mention those values and how they impact your
choices.
Questions from Dot Calm by Debra Dinnocenzo and Richard Swegan (2001)
1. What do I value most in life? What’s most important to me? What am I
passionate about?
2. Is the way I spend my day or week consistent with the above? Where do I really
spend my time?
3. To what degree am I tethered to the various productivity tools that I use? How
essential are these tools to my ability to live and work well?
4. If I asked others to describe me, what would they say: Do I want them to describe
accomplishments, relationships, and/or some other aspect of my life?
5. What are the objectives, or goals, for my life?
6. How do I measure success?

The first value that is important to me is spiritual foundation. I’m Muslim and I believe in
god so most of my life decisions and who I am as a person is strongly influenced by my religion.
I hold my religious values very seriously and before making any decision throughout my daily
life, I concede how it reflects on my religion, most likely if the thing I’m trying to do is not in line
with my religious beliefs, I’m not doing it.
The second value I chose was Honesty. I believe that my honesty with my parents is a
value that keeps getting more important as I grew older. I never lie to my parents, or I never
was good at lying and I would tell the truth eventually, so it became easier to be honest with
them rather than lying and keeping them in the dark. My parents are big influences in my life, I
feel a lot of my bad decisions in the past could have been avoided had I’ve been honest and
that’s why its an important value to me.
I think my third value has to be Health awareness. I strongly believe that a healthy body
and a happy mind are strongly related, if you are eating healthy and exercising frequently then
your mental state is also going to be healthy. I think that technology has made monitoring our
health much more easier and anyone can do it, a lot of apps and small devices can monitor
heart rates and recommend exercises individually. Also mental health is important, I usually try
and stay positive and focus on what makes me happy and avoid anything that may affect my
mood like bad friends.
My forth value is love. When I say love I mean the love for my family, I think what keeps
me going everyday is my love to my family. I’m an international student so I live far from home
and family, I have been studying in the U.S. for seven years now and I have faced many
hardships in my student life that broke me mentally, but my love for my family has kept me
strong all these years and I’m grateful for that.
