Order and Action Paper

The paper is worth 100 points. The paper must be a minimum of three (3) pages, in Times New Roman 12 font, and you must incorporate your text for the write-up (cite throughout)—see Paper Guidelines.

You may write in the first person; however, do not lose sight of the fact YOU MUST INCORPORATE the text. This means you must support all details with sources, do not give personal opinions here without support/evidence

1. First, using the theoretical framework presented in your text by Appelrouth and Desfor Edles, define and explain the questions of order and action. ..the book is provided..
2. Second, how does social media impact your life? Why do you use social media a particular way?

• Thus, you must think about how you use social media (or not) in your daily life. Then, analyze your behaviors using the questions of order and action.
• Use the rational/nonrational and collective/individual axes to analyze your use of social media.
  • For example, do useTwitter, Instagram, or TikTok because your friends do and it is a norm, which would be a nonrational
  • Or, the benefits of being able to talk to friends on these platforms outweigh any negatives about the apps, or feeling like you have to always be connected, which is a more rational
  • Considering order, do you take an individualist perspective, focusing on using social media because you want to be popular or you want to do what everyone is doing? Or a collective approach –you have come of age during the rise of social media apps and you have never question their use?
• There will inevitably be overlap when discussing rational/nonrational action and collective/individualist order, but that is ok.
