MAT 510 Week 8 One Factor at a Time and Design of Experiment Discussion ONE-FACTOR-AT-A-TIME (OFAAT) AND DESIGN OF EXPERIMENT (DOE)
Per the textbook, trying to understand factors that impact the outcomes of business process is an important aspect of improving business operations. Conventional wisdom plans experiment one-factor-at-a-time (OFAAT).
Compare and contrast the main advantages and disadvantages of OFAAT and DOE and select the approach (for example, OFAAT or DOE) that you would use in order to obtain effective business process. Provide a rationale for your response.

Hello everyone,
One-factor-at-a-time (OFAAT) experiment has only one factor that is changed at one time while the other factors are kept fixed. This is referred to as the classical approach to planned experimentation. This experiment takes much longer to reach results. In this approach, with each change in one factor, all other factors remain constant. This is repeated for each variable in the study.
Design of Experiments (DOE) is an effective way to determine the impact of two or more factors on a response. All factors are considered in a minimal number of experiments, and the results are verified with recognized statistical methods. It is the design of any task that aims to describe or explain the variation of information under conditions that are hypothesized to reflect the variation. With each change in one factor, there is a change in every other in order to formulate possible results.
The DOE experiment would be my approach of choice. This particular approach provides the different possibilities and timely results that are needed in such a changing business world.
