Lynn University Firing Employees in the Workplace Research paper The research paper is an original essay in which each student will propose and defend a resolution to an ethical dilemma that arises in their major or chosen profession. This paper will draw on insights from a professional code of ethics and other outside research. The paper should demonstrate awareness of the nature of individual research within a scholarly context appropriate to genre and discipline. It will present persuasive and original reasoning in a justifiable, logical, and creative fashion that is within a scholarly context and presented and documented in a style that meets professional standards. The paper will be at least 15-20 pages in length Presentation: Each student will develop a formal persuasive oral presentation to complement their research paper. The presentation will begin with the creation of a formal outline which transitions the content from a written to an oral communication format. This process includes presenting a topic appropriate to genre and discipline, developing a position/thesis in a systematic way through critically evaluating and selecting data/evidence that is organized into an argument that is clear, ordered, and scholarly in style and format. The student uses the formal outline to develop a speaking outline from which the student presents, as well as a slideshow which the student uses as part of the presentation. The conventions of public speaking must be required for this presentation, including the formal outline and slideshow submitted to Canvas for university assessment. In addition, the student must submit a video recording of the presentation to Canvas for assessment. The minimum presentation length is 10-12 minutes. Running head: ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY

how ethical relativism is a philosophy that can contribute the abandonment of moral

thinking. This article gives a basic illustration about what moral relativism is. This

This article is a review of philosopher Adam Smith’s theory that religious moral system
are the evolutionary basis for social order. Smith illustrates how the religious moral
system developed and evolved prior to a separate system of law to enable society to
function in an orderly and productive fashion. This article demonstrates a logical rational
that civilized orderly society is structured upon absolute moral values. The theory that
moral principles are the foundation for social order and productivity are central to the
thesis of my research paper.

Gray, P. (2012). The origins of morality: an evolutionary account Dennis L. Krebs, 2011 Oxford,
UK, Oxford University Press US
This article reviews the ideas put forth by Dennis Krebs in his book on the origins of
morality. Krebs describes how morality are evolutionary prosocial behaviors developed
to help animals participate and work together for survival. The idea presented that
morality is the product of an evolutionary survival strategy. It is validated in its success
of failure by species survival in a competitive environment. This supports my thesis that
morality is not relative to a subjective point of view, but is based on objective verifiable
value.

This article discusses talks about the ethical issues raised in criminalization of
intravenous drug use. The article makes a case that facilitating drug use with clean
needles is an affective harm reduction strategy. My research paper will ask the question,
is the moral relativistic idea of harm reduction is challenged by the recent exponential
lethality of fentanyl. I will argue that moral relativistic strategy actually resulted in harm
intensification. This article will provide a case on how moral relativism threatens social
order.

This article illustrates how police are considered the moral representatives of the
community. It argues that the police are the actualization of moral community standards
and that their authority originates from the just execution of that authority. I will use
these conclusions to discuss what happens in a community when the community standard
is relativism.
Conclusion
Running head: ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY
The conclusion of my research analysis is that social order is based upon absolute values
such as freedom from personal victimization, property rights and acceptable standards of
conduct. Moral relativism threatens social order by arguing that the priorities and values that
social order is based upon are arbitrary.
