team focus on business intelligence and the analytical platforms designed to make sense of the
big data that SABIC accumulated over time. Business Intelligence tools analyze this information
and present it as actionable information that can guide decision making.
Process digitization , which is using some digital technologies in procedures and managing
digitized data and digitally native data with a view to transforming processes to be more
efficient, more productive, and more beneficial, enables SABIC to run its process in an efficient
way that could not be possible with the absence of the various IT solutions been used.

In addition, Machine learning, process mining, cognitive analytics are examples of current
trends which SABIC is understanding the importance of them. Therefore, SABIC is heavily
investing in them to increase the efficiency of SABIC processes.
SABIC and specifically SABIC IT is such a dynamic and ever-evolving environment. Also,
Mr. XXXX stated that he is pleased to support SABIC growth plans in any means and one of his
biggest accomplishment is building a live interactive dashboard that presents a snapshot of
SABIC global operations as a whole. It was a major project that required huge efforts by a global
team.
III.
Critical failure factors
In SABIC, IT plays a major role in controlling the risk by offering multiple critical IT
solutions in this area as the global risk control (GRC), internal audit analytical platform and
compliance management systems. Furthermore, as Mr. XXXX claims that SABIC IT dedicates
multiple teams to support SABIC technology and innovation who run and maintain multiple
solutions in this domain.
SABIC did not face any failures regarding the use of IT/IS, but they had challenges such as
consolidating and reconciling Global Business intelligence reports from a different ERP system.
Especially at Supply chain’s BI reports since they are the backbone of Sales operations with the
clients that shouldn’t fail even during transformation. However, SABIC IT team was able to
maintain the legacy systems and working through a simultaneous system in parallel through
machine learning algorithms to fix new consolidated report bugs. Lastly, Mr. XXXX confirmed
that issues or challenges may have arisen that the IT/IS didn’t help to anticipate were due to
human error and lack of user skills.

Lessons Learned
Technologies arise every day that if new technology Inventions improve SABIC processes will
not be utilized, SABIC will be left behind.
